Sound Restoration ServicesAudio Mechanics has established itself as a leader in sound restoration. Other facilities offer sound restoration as a service, but Audio Mechanics has yielded superior results in every test situation. The reason - talent and experience. The tools required for sound restoration and noise removal are extremely sophisticated and infinitely complex. Without the proper experience and talent, results can vary from mediocre to plain awful. Audio Mechanics has more combined experience and talent with these tools than anyone in the world; and their track record proves it. Producers, directors, mixing engineers, and dialog editors come to Audio Mechanics because they know they will get the best results attainable. Audio Mechanics is responsible for cleaning up soundtracks for Walt Disney Records & MGM, as well as many others. In production dialog cleanup, Audio Mechanics services Gracie Films, Castle Rock Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, and many others. NoNoiseThe most sophisticated and effective single ended noise reduction system. May consist of one or more of the following: complex filtering, manual declicking, auto declicking, decrackling, or broadband noise reduction (your actual processes may vary). Charge is for engineer time only. Sound TransferOne of the most important steps in sound restoration of old recordings. Compact Disc Mastering ServicesStudio Time / Editing / EqualizationWe will work from any professional audio format: DAT, PCM 1630, 1/4" mono, 1/4" two track, 1/2" two or four track (Dolby A or SR). Analog tapes are played back on our custom-modified Studer tape deck and converted to digital (using a minimum of signal routing) via Wadia A-to-D converters. All digital editing is performed on a Sonic Solutions workstation, the most powerful and sophisticated hard disk based editor on the market. Any conceivable edit can be created by an experienced Audio Mechanic on the Sonic System. Equalization may be applied by the Sonic System or a range of outboard gear. Recordable CDs can be made either as a reference or master. PCM 1630 CD Master TapeThis tape, the last stage prior to manufacturing, includes a printout of an error analysis of the tape (data verification) plus a frame accurate log sheet. It can also include a PQ burst if requested by the client (see below). PCM 1630 Safety CopyAlso known as a clone, this tape includes data verification and a copy of the log sheet from the CD master tape. PQ EncodingThe PQ Burst contains the "Table of Contents" information for the finished CD. It is a short burst of digital data which is compiled and placed at the beginning of the master tape. Sample Rate ConversionSampling rates can vary for different formats. We can convert sample rates within normal range (32KHz to 192KHz) to any desired rate. This process can be used as a "varispeed" effect or to bring the sample rate to the CD manufacturing standard of 44.1KHz. |
